What is soil ph regulators?

2018-06-07 21:16:36

PH regulators or soil acidifers contains minerals that can be used to correct the problem of alkaline soil. Lowers the pH of soils for optimum growth of acid-loving plants. Provides fast acting and long lasting source of sulfur. Soil acidifiers contain compounds that will reduce soil pH. This will result in increased uptake of nutrients that are more available under acid conditions. Manganese and iron are the two most common elements unavailable to plants grown in alkaline soil. If all you want to do is adjust the pH without adding fertilizer your best choices include sulfur, aluminum sulfate, and iron sulfate.

The most common reason is rooted in aesthetics: many gardeners like to change the colors of their hydrangeas by adding acidifiers. If you have a pink hydrangea and want to change it to blue you can add aluminum sulfate. On the other hand if you have a blue hydrangea and want to change it to pink you would add lime, which will raise the pH to an alkaline level and result in pink blooms. Understand however this is only a temporary measure; when you stop adding these substances, the plant will return to the original color determined by the pH of the native soil.  Blueberries, azaleas and rhododendrons prefer acidic soil. If your acid-loving plants are not doing well in their present location and a soil test indicates alkaline soil you may want to give acidifiers a try. However caution is advised when using iron or aluminum sulfate these compounds are very strong and an over application can be dangerous for your plants.

Soil pH directly or indirectly occurring in the soil and many physical, chemical and biological processes affect. Soil and ground reaction has a tight relationship between organisms; 4-5 for example fungi, bacteria are more effective in the pH 6-8. Besides pH, soil plays an important role in the usefulness of available nutrient for plants. For example; nitrogen, at fair value in terms of phosphorus and potassium uptake by the plant 6.5 - is between 7.5.

Phosphorus, Al and Fe at PH lower than 6.0 is connected with the large value of the PH 7.5. Therefore, it is difficult to be absorbed by plants. 5.0 from small value, are toxic to plants for Al and Mn. 7.5 From the large value; Fe, Cu, Zn, Mn microelements insoluble form is late, the usefulness decreases to plants at high rates. In short, soil reaction; the pedogenetic care, soil formation and development; the nutrients ecologically has an important role on the economy. Therefore, comfortable to use all elements of plants in the soil, soil pH should be at a certain level. If the soil pH is not at the desired level, pH reduer is used.

Advantages of ph regulators: Making Soil soft; Making soil loose | Improve the acid of the soil | Improving soil better for roots of crops | Remove the harden and compact soil | Save the cost by improving the utilization of chemical fertilizers.
